Terry's 6th hospital visit!

Terry went back into the hospital for a 6th visit for breathing problems. This time however he was sent to the hospital closest to our home. It was such a pleasure to hop in the van and be there in less than 5 minutes every day, compared to the other hospital, which was quite a distance to drive each day. He was in the hospital for about 5 days this time. They got his breathing stabilized, but he came home with a nebulizer and a prescription, which he has to use every six hours. Just one more thing to add to his already long list of meds.

He is doing quite well right now, but I don't want to say that too loud.

Our V.A. doctor is located only 2 minutes away, as well as the oncologist, so we can pop in and see them when we have a need. The V.A. doc really surprises us. He is very young and very caring and is well versed in diabetes problems and solutions. He is actually turning out to be our primary care doctor. We still need one though because the V.A. doc cannot treat Terry if he goes into a hospital. We have been given the name of a primary care doc from our orthopedic specialist, who happens to be a good friend of the V.A. doc, and located in the same building with him. Besides, I will need a primary care doctor for myself.

All in all, we are very happy we got this apartment because of all that is available to us here, especially the medical help.

Ter's breathing is doing fine, his B/P is a little high still, but his blood sugars going down little by little. Right now his sugar is staying slightly high because on top of all his other meds, he is on steroids for the chest infection, and we were not told that it would make his blood sugar level go sky high! He is being weaned off of the steroids each day, and eventually (in 3 more days) he will go off of them, and hopefully then he will get back to normal.

His cast will come off next week, so he will be able to walk once again, with his walker.

We thank the Lord every day for all of our friends and family who look out for us. Jules and James are a wonder! With all that they have on their plates with Seamus, they still have time to spend with us, and help us out. They came up with an idea to order a portable ramp for Terry. It is made out of a light weight metal, and folds up like a suitcase. We put it out on the sidewalk and it goes down the step, and then I wheel Ter down in the wheel chair. It fits nicely in the back of the van and we take it along with us wherever we go, in case we run into a problem with steps or curbs.

Praise Jesus Christ for all that He provides for us each and every day!
